Church Leaders Encourage Papuans Not to Be Spited With Racism Issues |
The church shop of the Indonesian Christian Church Synod Synod (KINGMI) in the Land of Papua invites God's people to not be incited by racism and demonstrations because besides having consequences with the law it is also at risk with the corona virus or COVID-19.
This invitation was delivered by the Secretary of the Synod of the Gospel Camp of the Indonesian Christian Church (KINGMI) in the Land of Papua Rev. Yones Wenda in Jayapura City, addressing issues that are developing and can affect the kamtibmas situation and impact on the spread of the corona virus.
"To God's people and Papuans in general, they are asked not to take part in demonstrations by irresponsible persons because the risk is very large, namely dealing with the corona virus and also the law," he said.
"Leave all our problems to God, so that we live according to God's wishes," he continued.
Reverend Yones Wenda again reminded all Indonesian people and especially in Papua, that the problem in the United States was a matter for the country itself.
"We in Papua must not interfere with the problem there because in the end it will cause harm to ourselves because we are in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. We must build good cooperation with the government and related to our impact on this corona virus. , "he said.
So, he said, it would be good for the community to pay attention to the fulfillment of food through gardening and planting to meet their basic daily needs.
"Don't be too busy with demonstrations and things that are not good and don't bring good to us all. I also thank the Police and the TNI for helping to channel social assistance to the community," he said.
Regarding the seven prisoners of criminal cases in Papua that occurred in August 2019, Yones Wenda requested that they follow existing legal procedures.
"Go ahead with the sentence given by the public prosecutor, because it is certain that the sentence is given in accordance with the act in question. We the public must not interfere with the case. Entrust to the government because what they do will be according to that sentence," he said.
The state of Indonesia, he said, is a state of law, so the security forces will take firm action in accordance with applicable regulations. He also agreed with various parties who suggested gardening, managing land to grow food in the middle of COVID-19.
"We must protect ourselves from groups that are pitting us against one another, which causes us to conflict with the authorities, brothers and sisters, tribes and tribes, let's protect it together. I convey to the whole community that the problem of racism yesterday should not be compared with the problems that exist in the United States, "he said.
Because the problem of racism in Papua has been dealt with by the authorities, this problem is outside Papua not to be brought here until a demonstration which results in loss of property and lives. Because we are all losers.
