The Role of Media in Providing Covid-19 Information Continues to be Optimized

The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua has optimized efforts to disseminate information related to the prevention and control of COVID-19 through collaboration with mass media in the region.

Assistant for Government Sector Regional Secretary of the Provincial Government of Papua Doren Wakerkwa said, in fact the cooperation with the mass media had been carried out by his side since previous years.

"However, this year has not yet been carried out due to the bureaucratic restructuring within the Papua Provincial Government and the emergence of the COVID pandemic," he said.

He hoped that the cooperation with the mass media could encourage press workers to be even more eager in sharing the latest information about the development of COVID-19.

"After holding a virtual meeting with all the press workers in the Papua Provincial Government, we appreciate the participation of the mass media in disseminating information related to COVID so far," he said.

To that end, he instructed the Head of the Papua Province Communication and Information Agency together with the local Indonesian Siber Media Association (AMSI) to immediately formulate plans and concepts for cooperation with the mass media in the region.

Papua Province Communication and Information Agency Head Jery A. Yudianto said that his party would immediately invite the local AMSI management to discuss plans to explore cooperation with the media in Bumi Cenderawasih.

"We will regulate and look at the availability of available allocations, but there are also mechanisms that need to be met by the media for cooperation, so that later on it will not be a problem," he said.
