Long Weekend Holiday, BIN Intensifies Vaccination in 10 West Papua Regions
The West Papua Regional State Intelligence Agency (BIN) took advantage of the long weekend holiday to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccination.
The vaccination was held in collaboration with various agencies in 10 regions, namely Manokwari Regency, South Manokwari Regency, Teluk Bintuni Regency, Kaimana Regency, South Sorong Regency, Fakfak Regency, Raja Ampat Regency, Sorong Regency, Teluk Wondama Regency, and Sorong City.
West Papua Kabinda Brigadier General VS Bayu Sasetyo explained that vaccination is effective in protecting the community from the spread of Covid-19 and creating herd immunity.
In addition, as an effort to mitigate Covid-19 after the Eid holiday to continue the phenomenon of decreasing Covid-19 cases.
"We continue to promote the vaccination program so that vaccination achievements in West Papua can be maximized in welcoming any future plans, one of which is the transition to this endemic," said Bayu in his statement, Monday (16/5/2022).
The One-Star General also expressed his optimism that if vaccinations were carried out every day, they would be able to meet the total target population who had received the vaccine, especially for the third or booster dose of vaccination.
That way, the community is healthy and strong and ready to welcome good things ahead.
“The implementation of the vaccination cannot be separated from the synergy between agencies in the region such as the West Papua Police, Kodam XVIII/Kasuari and related health stakeholders. Like in South Manokwari, Binda Papua Barat is collaborating with the Pratama Elia Hospital so that visiting sick people are also protected with the COVID-19 vaccine," he said.
According to the Papuan Kabinda, hard work and mutual assistance are still needed, because the authority to change the status of a pandemic to endemic belongs to the World Health Organization (WHO), with reference to at least five indicators.
These include a transmission rate of less than 1 percent, a positivity rate of less than 5 percent, a hospitalization rate of less than 5 percent, a mortality ratio of less than 3 percent, and PPKM being at level 1 local transmission.
"The five indicators must also occur within a span of six months," he said.
