10 Ventilators from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia have been distributed to the Papua Provincial Government

The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) provides 10 breathing aids or ventilators to serve severe patients who are being treated in a number of hospitals in Papua. The aid was handed over by Head of Jayapura Port Health Office (KKP) Harold M. Pical, SKM, M.Kes

"We plan to share this ventilator with Covid-19 referral hospital in Papua Province. We are currently inventorying, which one will get it, so don't double it. If the hospital already exists, then we give it to others, who really need it. We prioritize hospitals that are handling many Covid cases, "said Kayame.

According to him, another consideration, the hospital that received this ventilator must have an anesthetist so that this tool can be used to help treat severe Covid patients, although the number of Covid cases in Papua now reaches 619 cases where there are 451 patients being treated, until now the need for facilities and medical devices such as HEPA Filters, ventilators and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are still sufficient.

Previously, the Papua Provincial Health Office also assisted a number of hospitals with several HEPA Filter units that were held from the Papua Health Office budget.

"But we will continue to monitor. When we began the massive Rapid Test, we also predicted that bed overload would occur in all hospitals. And right. So we approach and strategy how to speed up the duration of treatment and they can return home for independent isolation so that others enter, "Robby continued.

Another strategy to accelerate the handling and control of Covid in Papua is to strengthen the prevalence of the spread of the virus, starting from the community level with ongoing education, Puskesmas, and district / city health offices so that the tiered referral system in handling Covid can run according to the SOP.

Meanwhile, Jayapura KKP Head Harold M. Pical, SKM.M.Kes said that his party as the UPT of the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) on orders from the Expert Staff of the Minister of Health handed over the 10 ventilator units to the Papua Health Service.

"The assistance of this tool is to accelerate the handling and control of Covid-19. This is assistance from the Ministry of Health. Please let the Provincial Health Office distribute it to the hospital according to the level of need, "he said.

Harold said the 10 ventilator devices had just arrived this afternoon at Sentani Airport, and were taken by one of Trigana's subsidiary aircraft directly from Jakarta along with other medical devices.
