Post-Attack on Separatist Groups in Gome District, Papua, TNI Must Be Closer to Citizens



Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the TNI to improve coordination with several parties after the attack by the KKB (Armed Criminal Group) that killed three soldiers.

Three soldiers from the Kodim Yonif Raider 408/Suhbrastha Task Force died after a shootout with KKB in Tigilobak Village, Gome District, Puncak, Papua, Thursday 27 January 2022. The three soldiers who died were Serda M. Rizal Maulana Arifin, Pratu Tuples Alomoan Baraza and Pratu Rahman Tomilawa.

The three soldiers' bodies were buried in their respective hometowns. Serda M. Rizal Maulana in Bandung, Private Tupel Alomoan Baraza in Jambi, and Pratu Rahman Tomilawa in Central Maluku.
 
Ma'ruf Amin asked the TNI to improve coordination with the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) and community leaders
local post-attack.

"The vice president has coordinated with the TNI Commander (General Andika Perkasa) regarding how this can be handled properly, coordinated well with security stakeholders and the local government," said a spokesman for the vice president, Masduki Badilowi.
 
"In this case, the Vice President expresses his condolences and hopes that all ranks of the TNI in Papua must remain vigilant, not emotional, so that later they do not cause violations of the law," he said.
