Ahead of Eid, BTM is Optimistic of Jayapura City Zero Covid-19 for the Second Time
Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1443 H, Jayapura Mayor Benhur Tomi Mano (BTM) is optimistic that the capital city of Papua Province will enter the Covid-19 zero status.
This is because he sees the number of positive Covid-19 patients currently being treated continues to decline.
To Tribun-Papua.com Monday (18/4/2022), Benhur said the number of Covid-19 patients as of Saturday (16/4/2022), the remaining 3 people were being treated.
"We hope that in the next 4 days, if the condition of our patients who are undergoing this treatment is good, then we will truly re-enter zero Covid-19 or zero Covid-19 cases," he said.
Asked about the new Omicron variant, Benhur still appealed to his citizens to apply strict health protocols, while indoors and outdoors.
"Whether it's any variant, the key is only one process discipline," he said.
In addition, he also appealed to people who have not yet received vaccinations, to immediately vaccinate against Covid-19, in order to form communal immunity.
"We know that this is an obstacle, we are still at level 3 status and want to go down to level 2, it's just that the achievement of vaccination for our children and the elderly is still low, for that we must continue to push it," he explained.
The man from Port Numbay said he was happy because after 2 years of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there was new hope for the City of Jayapura to rise and recover.
"The year 2022 is getting better, we can see places of worship open 100 percent, Muslims who pray Tarawih solemnly, because we all miss the old conditions," he said.
Finally, Benhur hopes that the discipline towards the prokes that has been implemented by the community will be maintained.
"We certainly hope that everyone will continue to obey the prokes, wherever you go, don't forget to wear a mask, go to the market, to places of worship, to the street, you must wear a mask," he asked.
Previously, it was known that Jayapura City had entered zero Covid-19 ahead of Christmas, December 25, 2021.
However, active cases of Covid-19 again showed an increasing trend after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
