With the continued increase in COVID-19 numbers in Mimika, the Papua Provincial Government has requested the mining company to conduct a rapid test on all employees of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI).
From the communication results of the Papua Provincial Government and PTFI management, Klemen said the mining company had ordered a rapid test from Jakarta and planned to arrive in Timika next week.
"We are pleased with Freeport's rapid movements after the discovery of a positive case of COVID-19 for its employees. The company has also implemented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This helps the government in suppressing corona transmission in Tembagapura," he explained, Wednesday (6) / 5).
PTFI Management Representative in Jayapura City, Sony Warobay said that a rapid test had been carried out on 400 of its employees in Tembagapura.
"From the results of the rapid test, there were 46 people who underwent independent isolation in isolation barracks. They were in a stable and healthy state," Sony explained.
To continue to improve the health of employees undergoing independent isolation, PTFI continues to carry out the maintenance procedures as specified, provide vitamins and balanced nutrition.
Previously, Papua Province COVID-19 Task Force for Control, Prevention and Handling, doctor Silwanus Sumule confirmed the 51 people who were positively exposed to COVID-19 were all Freeport employees or employees of Freeport's partner companies.
"There has been a policy from the leadership of Freeport to conduct a Mass Blood Survey (MBS) in its work area. This is a step forward by Freeport management," Silwanus said.
