KKB Forced Citizens to Prepare Food, Money and Monitoring |
The police revealed a number of atrocities committed by the National Liberation Army - Free Papua Organization (TPN-OPM) against civilians in Tembagapura, Mimika Regency, Papua.
This atrocity is based on reports from the victims' families to the security forces, after the evacuation that occurred during a week in Timika. KKB members are said to have forced residents to provide food as they wish.
They also often ask for money forcibly for operational purposes, ranging from preparing delicious food. Most violent, local residents are forced to provide women in the village to satisfy the lust of the gang members.
"They (the KKB) forced the community, from preparing delicious food, funds to women. That is why those who are displaced are dominated by women, children, especially girls, "said Papua Regional Police Chief Paulus Waterpauw in Jayapura City, Friday night, March 13, 2020.
Paulus called the KKB's action like a thug attached to violence. The methods of terror are always used to frighten residents. Likewise in searching for ammunition and firearms.
"I always categorize them (KKB) thugs, their lives are violent, frightening citizens, threatening employers and workers everywhere continue to be threatened. Then look for ammunition and weapons, "he said.
According to him, the past trauma of Tembagapura residents is still thick. This after the violence carried out KKB in the area of PT. Freeport Indonesia, in 2018 then. Even before, the group had taken hostage residents around the Tembagapura District.
"They were syndromes, in 2018 it had happened. Residents do not want the same thing to happen again. I want to say that the presence of the KKB greatly frightened the residents, who are also their own relatives, "Paulus said.
Therefore, the police with the assistance of the TNI will continue to enforce the law against these criminal groups. Papua Regional Police Note, as many as 1,700 Tembagapura residents have fled to the city of Timika until Friday, March 13, 2020. In details, 396 of the refugees are children, while the rest are adults.
