The Papua Provincial Government must coordinate the distribution of groceries

The Jayapura Regent, Mathius Awoitauw, asked the Papua Provincial Government to coordinate the distribution of basic food items to the district government or through the COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling.

"We have to coordinate with us Jayapura Regency Government who has a community here, so that we also know that there are groceries distributed," said Regent Awoitauw in Sentani, Saturday (05/09/2020).

He said, without coordination, besides confusing the beneficiary's data, it also made the community continue to depend on social assistance from the government.

"Now we are inviting people to return to nature, grow crops, manage marine products, and the potential for local wisdom," he said.

Regent Mathius hoped that social assistance that wanted to be distributed by outsiders, both government, private sector, and institutions as well as organizational forums should coordinate with the Jayapura Regency Government.

"What we do is handling and preventing the spread of the corona virus, not just taking care of groceries," he said.

With good coordination, said the Regent, the distribution and delivery of basic food items would be more evenly distributed and all the people would benefit from the basic food items distributed.

"So, we have to coordinate with the local government first, so that the process of channeling aid can also be distributed on target, so that it does not accumulate in one place," he added.
