Turning on Fishermen Economy, Jayapura Regency Government Provides Fuel Assistance to Fishermen |
The Jayapura Regency Government through the Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Agency has distributed fuel oil assistance to revive the economic sector of fishermen in the coastal areas.
"We have finished distributing it to all groups of fishermen in the coastal area," Head of the Jayapura Regency Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Office, Rudi Abdiner Saragih, told reporters at Sentani, Monday (6/22/2020).
He said the fuel aid that had been distributed to all groups of fishermen in Jayapura Regency was very helpful in driving the fishermen's economy in the coastal area because the Covid-9 pandemic had indeed stopped fishing activities for fishing. This is also exacerbated by the lack of marketing of fish catches at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"They had stopped to go to sea but have now begun to return and that there has been support from the government through the help of fuel that has been distributed some time ago," he explained.
Rudi Abdiner Saragih added that ahead of the new normal era, the Jayapura Regency Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Office also continued to direct that these fishing groups continue to go to sea while still implementing health protocols. This is to avoid any indication of the spread of Covid-19 among the public.
"We continue to direct each group of fishermen so that in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic this will continue to sea and then go to the new normal and still use personal protective equipment," he said
