Governor Enembe Inaugurates Athletes Village and KONI Papua Office Next Monday

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe is scheduled to inaugurate the construction of the Athlete's House and the Papua KONI Office at the Mandala Stadium complex, Monday, August 24, 2020.

This was conveyed by the General Secretary (Sekum) of Koni Papua, Kenius Kogoya to the press on the sidelines of a battle between Koni and Uncen at Mahacandra Uncen field, Waena, Jayapura City, Friday (21/8/2020).

Kenius said that after the inauguration it would be used as a training center for Papuan PON athletes. "Yes, later after the inauguration, we will accompany all the centralized athletes at the athletes' homestead," said Kenius Kogoya.

Hopefully with the inauguration later and our athletes can be accommodated there, there will be a third party who will manage it. "We have prepared a third party that will manage the athletes' guest house," he said.

With the athletes' guesthouse, said Kenius, it really helped Koni, because all this time athletes stayed in hotels with very high costs. "When all athletes stay at the guest house, of course it will reduce financing," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Province Public Works Office, Gerius One Yoman, confirmed that the construction of the Athlete's Village and the Koni Papua Office as a whole had been 100 percent complete.

"For the realization of the physical work of the Athlete House, it has been 100 percent completed, it remains only to be inaugurated by the Governor on Monday," he said.

He conveyed that the Inspectorate had dispatched a team to conduct an inspection and the work had been completed in accordance with the work contract.

"The results of the inspection have been completed, the contractor has handed over the keys, we just need to find the right time for the inauguration," he said.

Gerius said that the athletes' homestead facilities are like a three-star hotel and the number of rooms is 60 and can accommodate 524 people. "The number of rooms is 60, each room can accommodate 7 to 9 people, room facilities are equivalent to a 3 star hotel," he said.

He gave an example that each bathroom has facilities such as a hotel and also a restaurant. This building is divided into several sections, where there is a KONI Office with its fields including the Meeting Room.
