Increase the education level of Papuans

The Indonesian Ministry of Religion plans to bring 200 students from Papua to study and study in several major cities in Indonesia. This is part of an effort to increase the education level of Papuans.

Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi revealed that the average Papuan population aged 25 years and over is only elementary school graduates. In fact, in several other places there the level of basic education is only followed for a year.

"Whose mistake? Our fault. The Ministry of Religion has responsibility in the field of religious education and general education through religious education institutions," he said in Serang, Wednesday (26/8/2020).

For that, continued Fachrul, in the next 3 months the Ministry of Religion will create a Love Papua program. The content is how education can help to build a better Papua.

"The goal is to develop the education and religious fields there. In our opinion, it is a bit behind compared to other regions and that is our responsibility. The Ministry of Religion is part of religion and education through religious channels," he said.

The 200 people who will be brought in by the Ministry of Religion are indigenous Papuans. They will be brought in early September to receive further education in 6 selected cities.

In addition, to help with Papua's security issues, the Ministry of Religion built a bridge of loyalty for Aceh-Papua and Maluku-Papua. This is to show that there is no difference between Papuans and citizens of both religions and other ethnicities in Indonesia.
