Fish needs for XX PON involve local fishermen

Fish consumption needs are estimated to reach around 800 kilograms per day at the XX National Sports Week (PON). The Jayapura Regency Government has collaborated with the private sector to meet these needs.

He continued that they had also coordinated in advance with the XX PON Grand Committee. The PON XX consumption coordinator ensures that Jayapura Regency becomes one of the suppliers of fish needs for athletes and other delegates and guests.

According to Rudi, the availability of fish must be ready since three months before the implementation of PON XX in 2021. The provider company will contact the heads of fishermen groups directly to supply the needs.

Since 2015, there have been 673 fishing groups (in Jayapura District). As many as 253, of which are capture fish fishermen groups, and the rest are freshwater fish farming groups.

Regent Mathius Awoitauw said the local government was doing its best to make the XX PON a success, which was postponed to next year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He is also optimistic that they will be able to be a good host for the athletes, delegates and guests of PON XX.
