Government Designates KKB Papua as Terrorist Organization

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD designated the Papua armed criminal group (KKB) as a list of suspected terrorists and terrorist organizations (DTTOT).

"The government considers that organizations and people in Papua who commit massive violence are categorized as terrorists," Mahfud said at a press conference on Thursday (29/4/2021).

Therefore, the government asked the TNI and Polri to take action against the Papuan KKB which was increasingly troubling.

"The government has asked the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Police, BIN and related officials to immediately take action quickly, decisively and measurably," he said.

The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) continued, the views and attitudes of the government, because the acts of violence in Papua in the last few days have become increasingly disturbing,

"Many Papuan traditional leaders came to the coordinating minister for police, law and security and the regional leaders there stated that the government's support for taking the necessary measures to deal with acts of violence that occurred in Papua," concluded Mahfud.

Previously, the Head of the Regional State Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), TNI Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha Karya was shot dead by KKB in Beoga District, Puncak Papua Regency, Sunday (25/4/2021).
