Papua Special Autonomy Provides Infrastructure Benefits in Papua
The Papuan people are asked not to be mistaken in assessing the provision of special autonomy funds by the central government so far. Because the implementation of the provision of these funds has been felt by all Papuan people to remote villages.
Where the policy of providing special autonomy funds since 2002 will end in 2021, then the government will evaluate it further. From 2002 to 2020, the total autonomy funds for Papua and West Papua disbursed by the central government reached Rp. 126.99 trillion.
Elisa Nian, is one of the people who has felt the impact of the provision of special autonomy funds so far. The head of Kampung Bring, Kemtuk Gresi District, Jayapura district admitted that the provision of special autonomy funds has been very useful for building villages, especially in terms of road infrastructure and empowering village communities .
"The positive impact of the Otsus program is huge for indigenous Papuans, especially in the infrastructure sector," said Elisa, Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
He explained that so far development has been prioritized for the aspects of education, health and infrastructure. This is proof that the central government is very concerned about the Papuan people.
"The Papuan people should not mistake Otsus, let alone be influenced by people who are not responsible for rejecting the Otsus program," he said. "The special autonomy program has a good goal of developing Papua, why should it be rejected" he wondered
If there are Papuan people who have not felt the impact of the special autonomy program, said Elisa, it is better to find the causes, what are hindering them. That way the benefits can be felt more by the community. "Let us together build Papua in the future to be better, safer, more peaceful and prosperous," he said.
