The Ministry of Health will build a hospital equivalent to the RSCM in Papua

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia plans to build a central public hospital with facilities equivalent to the National Central General Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) Jakarta. The central public hospital is planned to be built in Koya, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin to reporters in Jayapura, Wednesday (14/4/2021). According to him, the goal of building a central public hospital in Papua is to develop expert doctors in Papua. Budi stated that the number of expert doctors in Papua is still very small.

"Because later [the construction of the central public hospital] will be under the Ministry of Health, I can order expert doctors to come here, to teach doctor friends in Papua. [This can be done so that doctors in Papua can become more skilled and spread to other areas in Papua, "he said.

He emphasized that the presence of vertical hospitals such as central public hospitals is not to compete with regional general hospitals that already exist in Papua. The vertical hospital acts more as a place for the transfer of expert doctor's knowledge.

"Because [medicine] is a science that must be practiced by example. So, not only learning in class, but there must be a mentor, and learning must be with an expert, "he said.

Budi stated that his party would place the best people from the Ministry of Health to lead and run the central public hospital in Papua. In this way, they can become good mentors for doctors in Papua. "With that, we hope that in the future, [there will be] expert doctors in Papua, with high abilities and who can be exposed to all regions in Indonesia," he hoped.

Papua Regional Secretary, Dance Yulian Flassy hopes that the plan can be realized soon, because the land to build the central public hospital already exists. "The existing land, which is around 30 thousand more hectares in Koya, is just to be surveyed. If there are no obstacles, next year will be laying the first stone for development, ”said Flassy.
