The KKB Actions in Papua are Already Terrible

Head of the National Police's Security Intelligence Agency, Komjen Paulus Waterpauw, stated that the acts of violence and terror acts of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua have been terrible.

Therefore, the former Papua Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) emphasized that the government had labeled the KKB as a terrorist.

"Their actions were terrible," said Komjen Paulus Waterpauw in Jakarta, Monday (10/5).

According to Paulus Waterpauw, the crimes committed by the KKB were not only aimed at security forces, but also targeted civilians, health workers, educators, as well as burning or destroying a number of public facilities.

Komjen Paulus said that the last time he went to Yahukimo, Papua, he found out that a worker who was carrying a brick was shot with an arrow by the KKB. After falling, he said, the victim was then killed using an ax.

"After finishing the victim, his body was thrown into the river. Their actions were horrific," said the three-star police general.

Pauluw Waterpauw said it was necessary to remember that KKB was only a small group and did not represent the Papuan people.

Therefore, he asked all parties, especially the Papuan people, not to be carried away by the labeling of terrorists with the KKB.

This is because, said Paulus Waterpauw, the labeling of the KKB as terrorists was specifically aimed at this group and not the Papuan people in general.

"That is the only group. They must be responsible for their actions. That is why they are wanted," he said.

Likewise with other groups that are monitored by the Police.

According to him, there are about four to five groups.

However, the process was not immediately announced and decided because it had to go through the court.

"Today it is being tested in court or the lists are being submitted with their various demands for their actions which will then be decided by the judge," said the general who was born in Fakfak, West Papua. Paulus Waterpauw asked the public to remain patient with the policies that will be taken by the government.
