PUPR Ministry Completes 8 PON XX Papua Venues
All sports venues whose construction is the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua have been completed 100 percent.
Thus, the implementation of the largest national sports event can run smoothly according to the set targets.
"Our task is to add 4 venues and then add 4 more, so there are 8 venues in total. All 100 percent of the obstacles have been resolved for the XX PON," said Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Diana Kusumastuti in the Forum Discussion Merdeka Barat 9 (FMB9) entitled "World Class Venue PON XX Papua" on Saturday (24/7/2021).

"There are no additional maintenance and additional costs, nothing. Even though the infrastructure development was carried out during a pandemic like today," Diana said.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, a number of venues have even received recognition from foreign and domestic organizations.
For example, the Aquatic venue which received certification or world recognition from the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) or the parent organization of the international swimming sports federation on 27 July 2020.
Then the Outdoor Hockey venue has also won certification or recognition from the Federation Internationale de Hockey or the International Hockey Federation (FIH) some time ago.
Finally, Istora Papua Bangkit succeeded in recording the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) for 3 (three) categories at once.
"The three categories are first, for the longest span curved steel roof structure, the widest conical roof without connection and bolts in the form of a dome, and the longest installation and largest diameter of textile duct," said Diana.
In accordance with the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 10 of 2020, the Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Cipta Karya built 8 sports venues to support the implementation of the XX Papua PON. In total, the government has disbursed state budget costs of around Rp. 950 billion.

That way, maintenance of the sports facilities that have been built can be carried out immediately before the start of the XX Papua PON event which involves athletes from various corners of the country.
The agreement between the central and local governments will form an UPTD which is specialized in carrying out maintenance on the sports infrastructures that have been built.
The role of local governments is very important in ensuring that sports facilities receive intensive care, so that they can be reused at any time.
"Regarding the formation of this UPTD, it has been agreed that it was formed on April 6 last. Later, during the 20th PON, the temporary management will be carried out by PB PON," he concluded.
