Menpora Makes Sure Jokowi Closes Papua National Park 2021

Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Zainudin Amali ensured that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would close the implementation of the XVI Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) 2021 at the Mandala Jayapura stadium, on November 13, 2021.

"Mr. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will be present to immediately close the National Tourism Park," he said in a written statement, quoted Wednesday (11/10/2021).

Before closing the Peparnas, he said, the president would review the matches at the sports venues and award medals to the champions.

It was said that the reason President Jokowi was not present at the opening of Peparnas on 5 November 2021 was at the Mandala Jayapura Stadium and was represented by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. He said Jokowi was currently undergoing quarantine because he had just returned from a work visit abroad.

"Mr. President at the time of his opening after a visit abroad and had to quarantine. If he didn't have to quarantine, he might have opened it," he said.

The Minister of Youth and Sports has told Jokowi that the Papuan people and the committee want him to attend Peparnas.

"He said, I'll try later, I'll see the time and because it's possible at the time of closing, he is present at the closing," he said.

The Minister of Youth and Sports considered that the implementation of Peparnas had run smoothly until the fourth day since it was opened on November 5, 2021.

Nevertheless, the Minister of Youth and Sports admitted that there were small problems that arose in this national disability sports multi-event.

However, the problems that arise do not stop the implementation of activities.

It is known, this time Peparnas has recorded a number of record-breaking in several sports. This shows that the implementation of Peparnas is not inferior to the PON achievements that were held some time ago.

"I think this is a happy thing for all of us. I hope that until the end of the match on November 13, there will still be records being broken by the athletes participating in Peparnas XVI,” he hoped.
