From December 8 to 9, 2021, there was a gun battle between KKB members and the joint team.
"When the joint team was on patrol, the team was fired upon twice by the Armed Criminal Group, so the team returned fire and a gunfight broke out," he said.

Reason for Shooting with KKB
The Head of the General Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the National Police Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan said that the ongoing gunfights between security forces and armed criminal groups (KKB) in Papua were a form of self-protection.
Ramadhan emphasized that the action was taken because of an attack by the KKB on the officers on duty.
"The gunfight that took place by the police was under attack, of course there was a shootout because of the situation with our officers," said Ramadhan.
“Our members don't attack, but when we are attacked we protect ourselves. Of course we try if he attacks and is arrested and processed," he added.
Furthermore, Ramadhan explained, Polri is a protector and public servant who also has a law enforcement function.
Regarding cases of violence in Papua, according to him, the police can take action against parties or groups who violate the law.
He also said that his party would further optimize the role of the Nemangkawi Task Force by increasing security and patrols to anticipate attacks from the KKB.
"We are optimizing the Nemangkawi Task Force, by improving coordination there, increasing patrols, increasing security," he said.
