Vice President asks TNI to improve coordination after the attack in Papua

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to improve coordination with various parties, including the Papuan Provincial Government (Pemprov) and local community leaders, regarding security conditions following the attack on TNI posts by armed criminal groups (KKB) in Puncak Regency, Papua.

"The vice president has coordinated with the TNI Commander (General Andika Perkasa) regarding how this can be handled properly, in coordination with security stakeholders and the local government," Wapres Spokesman Masduki Baidlowi said in a statement in Jakarta.

Masduki said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin received representatives of the Papua Provincial Government led by Regional Secretary Ridwan Ruikutun at the vice president's official residence in Jakarta, Friday.

During the meeting, Vice President Ma'ruf expressed his condolences regarding the attack on the TNI post in Puncak Regency, which resulted in the death of three TNI soldiers.
 
"In this case, the Vice President expresses his condolences and hopes that all ranks of the TNI in Papua must remain vigilant, not emotional, so that later they do not cause violations of the law," he explained.

Previously, it was reported that three soldiers from the Kodim Yonif Raider 408/Suhbrastha Task Force were killed after a shootout with KKB in Tigilobak Village, Gome District, Puncak, Papua, Thursday (27/1). The three soldiers who died were Sergeant M. Rizal Maulana Arifin, Private Tupel Alomoan Baraza and Private Rahman Tomilawa.

The funeral of the three soldiers is planned to be led directly by the Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, Commander II/Sriwijaya TNI Major General Agus Suhardi and Commander XVI/Pattimura TNI Major General Richard Tampubolon.

"As a form of respect and love for his fallen soldiers, it is planned that Kasad General TNI Dudung Abdurachman will directly lead the funeral ceremony for Serda M. Rizal Maulana Arifin in Bandung," said Head of the Information Service of the Indonesian Army (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Tatang Subarna.

Meanwhile, the funeral for Private Tupel Alomoan Baraza will be presided over by Pangdam II/Sriwijaya TNI Major General Agus Suhardi in Jambi and Pratu Rahman Tomilawa by Pangdam XVI/Pattimura Major General TNI Richard Tampubolon in Central Maluku.
