Kasuari Kodam Denies Prada Enos Killed by KKB in West Papua

Kodam XVIII Kasuari, West Papua denied the claim submitted by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) that Prada Enos Aninam died as a result of a gun battle in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency on February 5, 2022. According to Kapendam XVIII Kasuari Colonel Arm Hendra Pesireron, Prada Enos died of suffering single accident.

"Prada Enos is a member of the Kasuari XVIII Bekangdam (Debriefing and Transport). He died from a single accident," said Hendra in a written statement, Monday, February 7, 2022.

He explained that Enos was known to ride a CRF motorcycle with the police number PB 3448 MZ. Enos had a single accident on Jalan Reremi Palapa, Manokwari, West Papua on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at around 06.10 WIT.

Kodam Kasuari explained that Enos could not control the speed of the vehicle so it hit a resident's house and then fell and bounced into the water channel. He was rushed to the ER at the Manokwari Hospital and received medical treatment, but Enos' life could not be saved.

"It is not true that it is claimed that he died because he was shot in a gun battle with KKB, because the victim had a single accident," said Hendra.

Information regarding the death of Prada Enos was conveyed by Spokesperson for the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB), Sebby Sambom, through a written statement. Shebby said that on Saturday morning last week there was a gun battle in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency.

"The TPNPB troops managed to shoot dead one member of the TNI/Polri, on behalf of Enos Aninam (a Papuan native)," said Sebby.

He said that his party continued to attack TNI/Polri officers in various areas of Papua. Sebby said that the Operation Commander of Kodap VIII under the leadership of Undius Kogoya was on standby and preparing to attack the TNI/Polri.

Meanwhile, according to Hendra, the location of the shooting was in Papua and not West Papua. "The area is in Papua Province. Meanwhile, Prada Enos Aninam is a member of Bekkang XVIII Kasuari who is in West Papua Province. He died in a single traffic accident," Hendra emphasized.
 
2. KKB will continue to launch attacks targeting members of the TNI and Polri

3. A total of five TNI soldiers have died while serving in Papua in early 2022

Meanwhile, since early 2022, a total of five TNI soldiers have died while serving in Papua. The first shooting incident occurred in Maybrat Regency, West Papua, January 20. One TNI member named Serda Miskel was also reportedly killed in a shootout with the KKB.

A shootout occurred when Yonzipur 20/PPA was about to repair the bridge from Faan Kahiro Village. In addition to the death toll, three TNI members were also reported to have suffered injuries, namely Serda Darusman, Prada Aziz, and Prada Abraham.

Most recently, three TNI members were reported killed in a shootout that took place in Gome District, Puncak Regency, on January 27, 2022. The soldiers who died included Sergeant Rizal, Private Baraza, and Private Rahman Tomilawa.

After the incident, TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa immediately left for Papua. Andika confirmed that he would pursue KKB members who had killed their members. They must be held accountable for their actions according to the law.
