Soleman Jambormias: The presence of YPK really helps Papuan children to get education

The thanksgiving service to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of YPK in Papua in Merauke Regency was centered at the Ottow Church, Tuesday (8/3/2022).

Head of Regional School Management (PSW) Merauke Christian Schools Foundation (YPK) Soleman Jambormias said the presence of YPK really helped Papuan children to get a good education. Specifically in Merauke, YPK manages 44 schools consisting of 30 elementary schools, 8 kindergartens, 4 junior high schools, 1 high school and 1 vocational school.

"We hope that nowadays, there is a discourse that foundations must stand alone, we want to convey that they should not be confused with the YPK, YPPK and Yapis foundations in Jakarta and its surroundings. Because children who are economically weak are included in these three foundation schools. We hope that through the Special Autonomy Law, which recognizes the existence of these three foundations, the government will continue to pay attention to it,” asked Soleman Jambormias after the thanksgiving service to reporters.

He continued, the central government still pays attention to foundations through BOS funds without distinguishing the status of foundation or state schools. Why don't the provincial and district governments that have special autonomy funds provide support for these funds to foundation schools.

"My hope for the Regional Government, let's help us because in the foundation there are children of the country who are economically weak who must be helped," he asked again.

In this YPK Anniversary, his party received financial assistance from donors to hold inter-club volleyball matches. In addition, donations from school principals were used for solo singing competitions and yospan competitions.
