The government adds BTS to help Jayawijaya residents get internet access
The government in 2022 will add to the construction of a number of base transfer stations (BTS) to help residents of villages in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province to gain internet access.
Head of the Jayawijaya Diskominfo Arkilaus Windesi in Wamena, Saturday, said that 20 of the 246 BTS units to be built in this district have now been completed and functioned.
"We in Jayawijaya this year are trying to prioritize BTS in border districts because building these BTS can be directly used by the community," he said.
He admitted that the construction of a number of BTS was hampered because some residents had not accepted the government to bring these facilities in their villages.
"There are some people who have limited understanding and did not accept before, but when we give a good understanding of the benefits of BTS, they accept," he said.
The Head of Communications and Information Technology ensured that with the community accepting the development, there would be no issue of customary rights where the BTS was built.
"Until now, the construction is going on because of the support from the regent, district head and village head who provide understanding to the community," he said.
He also confirmed that some BTS construction materials were being sent from outside Papua to Jayawijaya.
"An example of the benefits of BTS, for example, can help students in villages and districts in finding learning materials, especially in college, they can complete their assignments more quickly," said Arkilaus Windesi.
