Easter A Moment of Awakening for the Young Generation of Papua
Even though he is outside Papua, the Regent of Central Mamberamo Ricky Ham Pagawak (RHP) still makes time to attend this year's Easter celebrations. This time, the Regent of RHP celebrated Easter with Papuan and West Papuan students who were members of the Papua and West Papua Ecumenical Alliance (PMBP) from the study cities of Yogyakarta, Salatiga and Purwokerto. The Easter celebration which was attended by hundreds of students was held in the Kaliurang tourist area of Yogyakarta Province, last Sunday (17/4).
The opening prayer was started by Rev. Andreas Pagawak, taking the theme of Jesus Bringing Recovery to the Papuan Generation, (Luke: 24:5-6) and the sub-theme of the Resurrection of Jesus Restoring the Millennial Generation of Papua in the Development of Various Aspects of Life (Peter 1-3).
During the service, the sermon and testimony were delivered by Rev. Dominggus Pehan and delivered to the students who had also participated in the deepening of faith for 3 days 2 nights at Villa Taman Eden 1.
The Regent of RHP admitted that attending Easter celebration services with Papuan and West Papuan students from several study cities on the island of Java was a long-standing longing.
"Thankfully, finally this year it was possible to worship together with Papuan and West Papuan students in Yogyakarta," he said in a release received by Cenderawasih Pos, Monday (18/4).
The Regent of RHP gave his appreciation to the students who had taken the time to join the fellowship and even held Easter. The regent for these two periods said that what these students had done was part of the formation of human resources from a spiritual perspective.
For this reason, the Regent of RHP hopes that this Easter will be a moment of awakening for the young generation of Papua to prepare themselves for a good future.
The trick is to study well so that you can finish college on time and return to Papua to devote your knowledge by working in Papua.
According to him, Papuan students must be ready with their abilities so that they can compete and be able to be absorbed in various fields of work, both government and private. On that occasion, the Regent of RHP gave loving assistance to the students.
One of the founders of the Papua and West Papua Ecumenical Fellowship, Rev. Yosaphat Afaar, admitted that he was grateful for three days for the youth and students to welcome Easter by taking part in spiritual training.
According to him, the history of the Ecumenical Guild goes back several years. Ecumenism is a form of fellowship that does not look at the denomination of the church. "We only take care of students' spiritual problems. There are children who almost drop out of college, we motivate them so that they can finish college and return to Papua," he said.
