Chairman of the Indigenous Youth of Saireri II Region Nabire Ali Kabiay asked the Papuan People's Assembly to understand the mechanism of Perdasus Number 3 of 2008

The request was made by the Chairman of the MRP, Timothy Murib. Timothy was asked to understand the mechanism of Perdasus Number 3 of 2008, concerning the Implementation of the Rights and Obligations of the Papuan People's Assembly.

"I think the Chair of the MRP must understand Perdasus Number 3 of 2008, so far we have seen that all decisions in the MRP do not go through plenary meetings," said Ali to Tribun-Papua.com, Monday (23/5/2022)

Ali said that so far the decisions have only been made by Timothy Murib, Beny Sweni and Yoel Begins who should have respected the other members of the MRP.

Because according to Ali, the MRP is a representative institution for Papuan Indigenous People (OAP) which is bound by law.

"I asked the chairman of the MRP and his friends who rejected the formation of new autonomous regions and special autonomy, whether when they met the president they brought their aspirations to reject new autonomous regions and special autonomy they had held a plenary meeting or not," he said.

In fact, said Ali, several members of the MRP said that the MRP Chair had never implemented the plenary meeting mechanism.

It is even known that the aspiration to reject the DOB and Otsus is the aspiration of the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) which incidentally is the umbrella alliance of several separatist movement organizations in Papua.

"In Perdasus No. 3 of 2008 in Article 15 concerning the Implementation of the Right to Establish MRP Rules of Conduct, paragraph 1 states that the MRP has the right to stipulate rules and regulations in plenary meetings to facilitate the implementation of its duties and authorities," said Ali.
