The Ministry of Transportation empowers fishermen in Papua to optimize the sea highway

Head of the Jayapura Regency Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Rudi Abdiner Saragi, said that this activity was a real implementation of the development acceleration program in Jayapura Regency, which was a follow-up to the operation of the Depapre port.

This activity, he said, is very useful and can certainly increase the productivity of fishermen from the Ministry of Agriculture in achieving marine catches to support regional superior commodities, namely the marine and fisheries sector. This superior commodity can then become the cargo of the sea toll road and a pioneer in supporting the National Marine Highway Program.

"This sea highway program will serve as a liaison between the market and the 39 fishing groups that have been formed in Depapre," he said.

Uncen academics and also the Head of Strategic Papua Analysis from a professional Papuan research community, Laus Rumayom, appreciates this activity and continues to be supported by the provincial and district governments to synergize and support central government programs.

"In the future, data and the readiness of the Tanah Merah Bay fishermen are needed in increasing leading commodities in the marine and fisheries sector and even at the export level," said Laus Rumayom, who is also an expert at the 2021 Presidential Staff Office.
