Jayawijaya Regent inaugurates Welesi District Health Center

Jayawijaya Regent, Papua Province Jhon Richard Banua inaugurated a health service center to bring services closer to the community in the Welesi District.

Regent Jhon Richard in Welesi District said on Friday that the district had only limited health clinics (pustu) which were limited in terms of facilities and personnel, so that in 2018 a puskesmas was built to serve the community of seven villages in Welesi.

"With the official launch, the service is fully operational and I have appointed the head of the puskesmas," he said.

Previously the Welesi community was not only served in the pustu, they also received services in the Asolokobal District because the puskesmas there was in charge of the pustu in Welesi and the distance was not close.

He said the Welesi Puskesmas had seven officers consisting of four ASN personnel and four contract workers.

"We need to add about six more people and I have asked the head of the puskesmas to see the Welesi District children to help. In addition we will add one doctor so that service can be better," he said.

Some time ago the Jayawijaya Government also inaugurated the Yalengga Health Center, Pyramid Health Center and temporarily completed the construction of several health centers to bring services closer to the community.

Before the construction of several puskesmas, the community had to walk more than three kilometers to get health services.
