Papua Police Chief Continues to Monitor KKB Movement

Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw confirmed that he would continue to monitor the movement of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya. At the moment the KKB is starting to move to Tembagapura, Mimika, Papua Indonesia.

"We already know their movements," he said, Tuesday, February 18, 2020.

In addition to the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya, the police also monitored the movement of the Telenggen Lekagak group. Both groups are known to be moving towards the mining area of PT Freeport Indonesia.

"The KKB leadership of Lekagak Telenggen from Puncak Jaya Regency has shifted to Intan Jaya Regency. Egianus Kogoya too," he explained.

Paulus acknowledged the existence of the KKB threatening and disturbing the community, not even reluctant to commit violence. But apart from that, he considered the act of KKB only looking for attention.

They deliberately commit criminal actions to lure officials to take actions that lead to violations of human rights. "But we are still looking for and trying to catch them. Hopefully we can paralyze them," he concluded.
