"The Rufei Modern Market is finishing and it is estimated that next month it can be realized for use," said the Mayor in Sorong, Monday (02/17/2020).

He said the Rufei Modern Market in Sorong City was the largest market in the Land of Papua. The market is expected to increase regional income because Sorong City has no natural wealth other than tax services.

According to him, the development of the modern market lasted a long time because it purely used APBD funds and Otsus funds so that it was carried out in stages according to the amount of the budget.

He explained that if the development of the modern market was assisted by the central government through the APBN budget, it would have been formalized several years ago.

"If there is a budget support from the central government of the Rufei Modern Market, it was inaugurated two years ago because the Sorong City Regional Budget is limited, so the work is done in stages," Lambert said.

He conveyed that Sorong City Modern Market Rufei has a special place for indigenous Papuan women traders as a form of government commitment to empower indigenous Papuans.

"I hope that after the inauguration of the Rufei Modern Market in Sorong City, it will support the economy of this region to become the most advanced city in Papua," he said.
