Trans Papua Project, Ministry of PUPR Has Asphalt 364 KM Road

The National Road Executing Agency (PJN) ensured that the 364.5 kilometer trans Papua Jayapura-Wamena (Jayawijaya) road had been paved. The length of the Papua-Jayapura Wamena trans road reaches 575 kilometers.

Head of Jayawijaya PJN IV Satker Togap Harianto Manik in Wamena, Capital City of Jayawijaya Regency, Sunday (9/2), said that the work on the Jayapura-Wamena trans Papua road was handled by Balai PJN I Jayapura and PJN IV Jayawijaya.

At this time from the direction of Jayapura it has been paved 231.5 kilometers. While from the direction of Wamena it has been paved 133 kilometers. So that has not been asphalted as 210.5 kilometers. In 2020 the asphalting of the road will be continued until 2022. "It has been programmed. Asphalting there is already a DIPA from 2020 to 2022 along 136.5 kilometers," he said.

The remaining 74 kilometers of the Papua-Jayapura Wamena trans road that have not been programmed asphalted last year to be worked on this year, the plan is proposed in 2020. Togap ensures that there are several points on the trans Papua road that enter the PJN IV working area need to be improved to comply with Bina Marga standards or safe for people to pass.

"As long as the Jayapura-Wamena road is functional, it means it can be passed but the road position is still unpaved. So if the road has not been paved, especially not yet standard, the rain position will definitely be destroyed," he said.
