Churches in Papua are asked to conduct socialization to the public regarding the corona virus. This request came from the Papua Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) to prevent the spread of the virus in Papua.
"For example, washing hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water or alcohol-based liquid," said Head of the Papua Health Service, Robby Kayame, on March 22, 2020.
Robby also asked the church to limit congregational meetings that were not important and suggested people do activities in the house.
"Ensuring that all houses of worship are clean, cleaning the area of places of worship by using disinfectants, especially before dense activities," he continued.
He said if people meet patients or visit areas where Covid-19 spreads within 14 days then stay at home, quarantine their own initiative.
"Then immediately report to the health center, nearest medical staff or hospital. If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, get medical advice immediately because this might be caused by a respiratory infection or other serious condition, "he said.
He also said that it is necessary to maintain distance or social distancing. "Keep a distance of at least one meter between you and anyone who coughs or sneezes," he said.
