He considered the making of Papua as the host of the National Sports Week (PON) on October 20 - November 2, 2020, is a new milestone in the development of Papua by promoting the values ​​of Pancasila. "As the host, much development will be concentrated in Papua. The implementation will also have a multiplier effect on the economic and social improvement of the Papuan people. Because in principle, sports, culture, and tourism are three inseparable things. All three will lead to an increase in income. "The region and the welfare of the people. Papuans can certainly take advantage of the momentum of this PON by being a good host, supported by all elements of the nation," Bamsoet said.

The Deputy Chairperson of SOKSI reminded that the PON 2020 event can be successful, it requires the participation of local governments to get the community actively involved in preparing their territory. Without participatory development, it is impossible to make progress.

"Four regions will be the location of 37 sporting events which will be contested at PON 2020, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency. No less than 6,442 athletes from various parts of the country will come to Papua.
