14 GIDI Classics Receive Basic Food Assistance from the Regent of Mamberamo Tengah

The Central Mamberamo Regency Government, Papua, distributed food aid to administrators of 14 Klasis Evangelical Churches in Indonesia (GIDI) spread over three districts of Jayawijaya, Tolikara and Central Mamberamo.

The distribution of food consisting of rice, instant noodles and cooking oil was symbolically carried out by Central Mamberamo Regent Ricky Ham Pagawak SH, MSI accompanied by DPRD Chairperson Hengky Dani Yikwa SE in Klasis Koma Kobakma Mamberamo Tengah, Thursday.

Regent Ricky Ham Pagawak asserted that the government provided this assistance not only to the people who were scattered in 59 villages after the closure of access and exit access, but also for the church in this case the 14 klasis in Bogo District.

"The government also enters the church so that the servants of God are taken care of so that this government service is included on all sides," he said.

According to the RHP Regent of the 14 klasis in the Bogo Region who received assistance, 2 were in Jayawijaya District, 2 other were in Tolikara District and 10 were in Central Mamberamo Regency.

Foodstuffs for 4 klasis in Jayawijaya and Tolikara Districts have been distributed since yesterday, namely Bogoga and Aiwa Klasis in Tolikara Regency. And 2 klasis in Jayawijaya Regency, namely Wolo and Lembah Balim.

"The amount of assistance is adjusted to the number of congregations in each village, if there are 23 congregations, they will get 23 sacks of rice with a size of 50 kg. "For 10 Klasis in Central Mamberamo Regency, starting today, it will be distributed and starting from the Klaka Koma Klasis," he said.

Still according to the RHP Regent, in addition to 14 klasis, the same assistance will be given to 2 biblical schools including all State Civil Apparatuses (ASN) in the district capital and districts such as Kelila, Eragayam, Ilugwa and Megambilis in the capital and district, and TNI-Polri.

The regent said that the provision of food aid to the people, the church, and the TNI-Polri must be carried out by the regional government, because the government has adopted a policy of closing down road access.

The government has an obligation to protect its people when the corona virus attacks, at any cost, because the life of a Middle Mamberamo person is very valuable.

The regent of two periods admitted that administratively, 4 clasms were located in Jayawijaya and Tolikra Regencies. But in the church, they entered the Bogo area together with 10 other Klasis in Central Mamberamo District, so the government also had the same concern to provide assistance both in Central Mamberamo, as well as Jayawijaya and Tolikara.

Regent Ricky Ham Pagawak hopes, by providing this food aid, the servants of God and the congregation will remain at home.

"Food aid for Klasis will not stop here, but will continue until the corona virus ends," he said.

Head of the Kobakma Klasis Yinggiarek Dabi expressed his gratitude to the Central Mamberamo district government for providing food aid. He said, this food is very useful for the congregation when conditions like this.

Meanwhile DPRD Chairwoman Hengky Yikwa said the legislative body as a partner had an obligation to support the government in distributing food for the people in a corona virus outbreak situation.

According to him, when closing access roads to Central Mamberamo to make community activities limited, the government has an obligation to provide food for the people.
