Good News Corona, Thousands of Masks and PPE Arrived in Papua

Corona's good news comes from Papua. The Air Force's Boeing 7306 aircraft landed at Jayapura Papas Silas Air Base in Sentani, Jayapura Regency carrying 3.4 tons of personal protective equipment (APD), for handling the Covid-19 pandemic at Bumi Cenderawasih.

A total of 3.4 tons of PPE consists of 10,000 PPE and 5,000 masks. In its flight, the Indonesian Air Force aircraft also carried 1.2 tons of PPE for West Papua Province which would later be unloaded at Rendani Manokwari Airport.

Commander of the Air Force Base Jayapura Silas Papare Jayapura, Marsma TNI Tri Budi Santoso said the PPE assistance for Papua and West Papua was assistance from Junior Indonesian Doctors.

Previously, Papua also received 2.3 tons of PPE and other health equipment last March 30.

The difficulty of PPE is indeed felt in the handling of COVID-19 in Papua. The Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano even ordered 1,260 rapid tests and 693 PPE through political parties.

"I have ordered. I tried to pass through the party, because it was very difficult to get PPE. Previously from the province, we were only given 100 rapid tests, even though Jayapura City had the most people in monitoring (ODP) that had to be examined, "he said.

Benhur claimed he was forced to order PPE through the party channel, to save the people in Jayapura City.
