The Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) of the Jayapura Regency Government, Papua Province, distributed 7,050 masks free of charge to the people in the region in an effort to handle and prevent the spread of a new type of pandemic corona virus (COVID-19).
Jayapura Regency DP3A head Miryam Soumilena in Sentani said Thursday that until now his party has distributed 7,050 masks for free to the people in each district in the district.
He said of the 7,050 masks distributed to a number of districts out of the target 534 thousand masks planned were given to the community.
"Among the districts distributed were 3,550 to Waibhu District, 3,000 masks to Sentani City District, 300 Yapsi District masks, 300 Depapre District masks, 300 masks to Unurumguai District," Miryam said.
He said he would submit 1,000 masks to the Kemtuk District, in addition to data collection on small business groups, especially mothers in various villages.
"Our coordination is also with a number of other regional apparatus organizations such as the Office of Cooperatives and SMEs to utilize the power of small business groups in the village so that the efforts made will help meet the economic needs of the family," he said.
He said that out of the 19 districts, most of them were given specifically to urban areas and that efforts would continue to break the chain of the spread of the corona virus.
"The material is given as a mask but also the raw material for 54 meters of fabric to the PKK mothers at the district level to be sewn into masks," he added.
