Puncak Jaya Regency Government Allocates Rp 53 Billion Funds To Meet The Needs Of Its Citizens

The government of Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua Province has now allocated 53 billion funds to meet the basic needs of the affected communities in dealing with COVID-19.

The Puncak Jaya Regent, Yuni Wonda, when contacted by ANTARA from Jayapura on Sunday said the regency government would try to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing food, masks and other basic necessities.

In addition to providing food aid and masks, the district government also conducted socialization about the dangers of COVID-19 along with how to avoid that is by using masks and keeping a distance and frequent hand washing.

"Puncak Jaya Regency Government will try to fulfill the basic needs of people who are experiencing the effects of COVID-19 because they cannot carry out activities normally," he said.

The regent admitted that to inhibit the spread of COVID-19 up to now there were still restrictions on passengers, both by air and land.

"Only foodstuffs and a few others are still allowed in, but passengers or people are not," he said

And he added, had set up a post at the border to prohibit the activities of residents entering the Puncak Jaya Regency.

The people of Puncak Jaya who are outside the area are asked not to return even though using the land route to avoid the spread of COVID-19, said Yuni Wonda.
