Chairman of the Papua COVID-19 Handling Task Force William Manderi said that the people of Jayapura and surrounding areas began to obey the rules of limiting activities in handling COVID-19, the community began to obey restrictions on activities until 14.00 CET.
From the results of monitoring there is no longer a buildup of people both two-wheeled and four-wheeled users in a number of road sections in the barricade, as was the case on the first day, Monday (18/5), said Manderi who also served as the Head of BPBD and the Papua Police Satpol in Jayapura .
Enforcement of activity restrictions is carried out due to the continued increase in the number of residents infected with COVID-19. At present, the extended and tightened social restriction (PSDD) has been imposed which will last until 4 June.
Because of this, barricades were established in a number of areas to limit the use of roads and were only permitted to be passed by those who had an identification card issued by the "COVID-19 Handling Task Force" or urgent needs.
For this reason, people are expected to comply with the PSDD and wear masks when leaving the house, Manderi said. The number of COVID-19 patients in Papua reached 483 people and 364 of them were treated in a number of referral hospitals. Patients recovered as many as 110 people and nine people died.
