KPK Encourages Papua Provincial Government To Revoke DTKS To Be On Target |
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) encourages the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) to reform the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) or data on recipients of social assistance throughout Papua Province.
"This is to ensure that the allocated social assistance is effective and on target, especially because the estimated number of recipients is increasing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati Kuding.
That is, responding to obstacles faced by local government related to social barriers such as residents who refuse to make KTP because it is considered contrary to religious teachings.
"However, the KPK reminded that in the current pandemic the priority that must be done by the regional government is to ensure that social assistance can reach all affected communities and depend on government assistance," he said.
The KPK also reminded that the mechanism for providing social assistance can anticipate the occurrence of duplication of assistance or distribution of fictitious assistance. Because, said Ipi, in a series of monitoring and evaluation (monev) prevention activities conducted by the KPK in November 2019.
"So, the distribution of social assistance in the current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic, the KPK hopes to be seen as an opportunity for regional governments to update DTKS," he said.
In addition, the KPK also reminded the commitment of the provincial government together with the regency and municipal governments in Papua to immediately complete the development of an indigenous Papuan information system and "database" (OAP).
"With this integrated data, it is expected that improvements in OAP welfare from year to year can be measured," said Ipi.
During the meeting, the KPK also conveyed the focus of corruption prevention in 2020 which included improving governance, saving finances and regional assets as well as other special tasks.
He revealed the achievements of the "Monitoring Center for Prevention" (MCP) in 2019 related to eight areas of intervention in improving local governance increased to 34 percent from the achievements in 2018 by 25 percent.
"However, compared to the national average, the Papua Provincial Government is still far below the average, which is 68 percent for 2019 and 58 percent for 2018," said Ipi.
The KPK hopes that a number of issues related to improving DTKS in the distribution of social assistance and action plans for improving regional governance as a whole remain a priority to be resolved even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by continuing to prioritize good governance practices and corruption free.
