Pania Residents Dared Not Leave Home

Conditions in the Ndeotadi region, Bogobaida District around the 99 police post, Paniai Regency, Papua, are still tense. Residents did not dare to leave the house because there was a group of people holding long-barreled firearms that were suspected to be the KKB Armed Criminal group.

A number of police officers are still on guard around the crime scene and housing residents. The number of police officers BKO at the post is only eight people, but four of them have left for the Paniai Police Station.

The temporary residents are only in the house, for fear of anarchistic actions by the armed masses. While no gunfire had been heard, only the screaming of people from a distance.

The region also has no cellular network, only satellite phones and WiFi connections in a number of locations owned by mining entrepreneurs. This condition complicates the coordination of officers.

The distance from the police post 99 to Paniai Police Station can only be reached by helicopter. The closest aid is at the Bayu Biru police station. But the distance is very far, or one hour walk.

Earlier, police post 99 was attacked by a group of people suspected of being KKB. They injured a police officer and seized four long-barreled firearms inventory at the post.
