BI Papua encourages cooperation between regions to maintain price stability

The Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office (KPw) of Papua Province encourages inter-regional cooperation to maintain the price stability of the materials needed by the community.

Papua Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office Head Naek Tigor Sinaga in Jayapura on Thursday said the cooperation began with mapping the surplus deficit in each region.

"Cooperation between regions certainly requires interconnection that needs to be maintained, so that inflation in eastern Indonesia can be expected to make a positive contribution to the nation," he said.

According to Naek, of course with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic there are certain risks, especially how the production can take place.

"Future threats such as food availability, so that it becomes one of our homeworks, usually with surplus or excess food trying to avoid distribution to other regions," he said.

For this reason, he said, at least an area must be able to meet its own needs, so it is deemed necessary to develop the existing potentials in the region.

"There are some concrete steps on how to maintain and make local food commodities as food security, then how to try to distribute through sea tolls, then how to also maintain price stability through setting the Highest Retail Price," he said again.
