| Jayawijaya can now conduct an independent COVID-19 examination |
COVID-19 examination can now be done independently at the Wamena Regional General Hospital so that the Jayawijaya Regency Government no longer has to send patient specimens to Jayapura City to find out if a patient is infected with the corona virus that causes COVID-19.
Jayawijaya Regent Jhon Richard Banua in Wamena, the capital of Jayawijaya Regency, said on Tuesday that the regency government had to send patient specimens to the Papua Provincial Health Laboratory in Jayapura City and was only able to find out the results of the examination in about two weeks.
"Now we don't need a lot of places to quarantine reactive patients because we are waiting for the results of a swab from the province that can take one to two weeks. We have bought our own PCR device so that it can regulate the rhythm in the quarantine place of reactive citizens," he said.
The Chairperson of the Jayawijaya COVID-19 Handling Task Force said that with the support of officers and tools that are now available in a day, 30 30 nose and throat swabs can be examined and the results can be known within 45 minutes.
In addition to preparing isolation rooms and supporting equipment for COVID-19 countermeasures, the Jayawijaya District Government continues to campaign for prevention of corona virus transmission.
The district government also conducted an inspection using a rapid diagnostic test tool to detect COVID-19 transmission.
According to government data to date there are still six COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment, 19 people who previously underwent treatment have been declared cured.
"One of these patients (out of the six people who were quarantined) is a Yahukimo resident who came from Jayapura, so we found it through initial screening, rapid test at Wamena Airport," the Regent said.
