The Merauke Police Precinct conducted vigorous night patrols to anticipate criminal acts during the COVID-19 pandemic while at the same time urging residents to be aware of and prevent the spread of the corona virus in Merauke Regency, Papua.
"Before the night patrol was held, we began by giving directions which were carried out on the terrace of the Merauke Mapolres," said Iptu Superintendent Officer Fain Zainal when contacted from Jayapura City on Sunday night.
Iptu Supervisory Officer Zainal Faisal was accompanied by Ipda Beres Nadeak along with members carrying out night patrol activities held by the Merauke Regional Police.
According to Iptu Zaenal during the COVID-19 pandemic, security forces, especially the National Police in Merauke Regency, increased patrol activities at night until morning because of criminality, especially cases of theft and intoxication due to the influence of alcohol often occur at these hours.
For this reason, according to him, night patrol officers are asked to remain vigilant and maintain safety while on duty.
"If you take action, don't be arrogant and remain humane and in accordance with the SOP, Binmas personnel are expected to continue to carry out counseling or call for efforts to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 by using vehicles," he said.
As for the night patrol route to create conditions that use two units of four-wheeled vehicles and one unit of six-wheeled vehicles passing the Brawijaya Road, going to Jalan Raya Mandala, then passing Jalan Seringgu.
"And proceed to Jalan Arafura Buti, Jalan Noari, Jalan Raya Mandala, Jalan TMP and return to Jalan Brawijaya to Mapolres Merauke. While in this patrol, we found things that stand out, the situation is still safe and conducive," he said.
