PB PON Holds Meeting for Preparation of PON 2021

The Papua Provincial Training Center (Puslatprov) and KONI have completed the names of the main athletes or potential athletes from 37 sports that are competed at the XX21 National Sports Week (PON) in 2021.

That was conveyed by the General Secretary (Sekum) of Koni Papua, Kenius Kogoya to the press after holding a closed meeting with Puslatprov management, Friday (05/29/2020).

Of the 1,028 Papuan PON athletes who are conducting Training Centers (TCs) in Papua or on the island of Java, as many as 445 people are categorized as the main athletes who will conduct TC centralization.

Then, 583 other athletes (intermediate athletes), Koni and Puslatrov will be returned to the branch of the sport and conduct decentralization exercises at their respective homes.

So, these 1028 Papuan PON athletes will be re-collected all at a centralized training camp in early 2021, the decision we made is related to the budget, because Koni's funds have been partly diverted for handling the corona virus (Covid-19), "he said.

In addition, the KONI budget that was not allocated for this disaster, we use some for shopping for medical devices (medical supplies) distributed to PON athletes.

In fact, early next month, Papuan PON athletes in the Jayapura region will conduct a Rapid Test.
"Before we return athletes to sports next month, athletes must take the Rapid Test, Koni is giving serious attention to athlete's health, we want to make sure they are all free of the corona virus," he said.

He added that the main Papuan athletes who will conduct TC Centralization consist of 51 categories of athletes, 51 athletes, 83 sports and 259 athletes.

"For the rights of all athletes to be equaled, there is no difference, both the main and intermediate athletes," he concluded.
