Papua Police Denies Papua Prisoners Exposed Corona

Head of Papua Police Public Relations Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal denied reports that prisoners were positively exposed to the Corona or Covid-19 virus. The information is considered as hoax alias hoax news.

"On Saturday, May 30, 2020, the circulation of information on social media and online media that dozens of detainees in the Papua Regional Police positive Covid-19 was not true or hoaks," Kamal said in his statement on Sunday (31/5).

Kamal accused the information as a form of provocation from the Head of the Political Bureau of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Bazoka Logo.

"ULMWP sympathizers Bazoka Logo continue to provoke and spread news or information that causes panic for prisoners, their families and the community," he explained.

Kamal explained, after a rapid test of the detainees there were indeed found four people who were declared reactive. However, after a PCR test, the four prisoners were declared negative by Covid-19.

"At the moment the four detainees have been returned to the Papua Police Headquarters to undergo legal proceedings," Kamal explained.

He also stated that the investigation had been carried out thoroughly to police officers and prison guards. Kamal appealed to the whole community not to be easily provoked by the news and to be wise in using social media.

"We reiterate that there are no positive Papuan Regional Police prisoners Covid-19, all prisoners are in a healthy physical and spiritual condition," Kamal said.
