PLN Papua Promotes Electricity Bill Installment Payment Scheme

PT PLN (Persero) of the Papua and West Papua Regional Units Unit socialized the electricity bill payment scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic and collected data on customers who received the relief.

Spokesperson for PT PLN (Persero) Papua and West Papua Regional Unit, Septian Pudjianto to Antara in Jayapura said, in this payment scheme, customers are given relief to pay off the costs of using each electric power.

"The relief in paying off the electricity usage costs is in the form of installments or what we call capping," he said.

According to Septian, not all customers get capping or relief in repaying the payment, they will separate customers who receive installment relief and those who do not.

"For customers in Jayapura, this capping recipient data comes from the Central PLN, where if the customer wants to find out if they are given installment relief, they can check through the PLN mobile application," he said.

He explained with the scheme, customers whose bills in June jumped more than 20 percent compared to May due to billing using an average of the last three months, the increase would be paid by 40 percent, and the remainder was divided equally in the bills for the next three months.

"With the surge protection scheme, PLN regulates the increase in bill surges in June, a maximum increase of 40 percent from the previous month's bills so as not to burden consumers, the remaining unpaid bills in June or 60 percent of the bill surges will be shared equally in the next three months. , "he said.

He added that during the COVID-19 pandemic, electricity bill payments were made using three schemes, namely the recording done by officers to homes, the recording of independent meters by consumers and then sent via WhatsApp application to the PLN call center, and the calculation of usage using average usage, where this last scheme usually causes the customer's electricity bill to surge.
