Special Efforts Babinsa Assists Fostered Residents In Local Food Security Activities |
Member of Babinsa Koramil 1708-03 / West Biak Sertu Anthonius HS together with fostered residents carry out a vegetable harvest in the village of Marisen West Biak District, Monday (8/6).
This vegetable harvest together with the residents is the second time since the outbreak of the corona virus as a special effort Babinsa assisted the fostered residents for local food security activities.
This activity is also focused on creating new land by utilizing vacant land around the village and the yard of the family home.
Babinsa Sertu Anthonius said that the assistance effort was aimed at continuing to motivate fostered citizens to maintain food security during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As well as supporting the efforts of local governments in the success of food security, especially in the target area by cultivating vegetable crops including water spinach and long beans.
Apart from being able to use the garden, the harvest can also be marketed so that the results can increase income for families and villagers.
Aleks Obinaru, a fostered resident, said that at the time of the outbreak of the corona virus in his village more and more residents were adding land for gardening.
In addition to food security, he continued, this gardening activity is also to open up employment opportunities for the young people of Marisen Village who during the pandemic had lost many jobs in the city.
The youth also thanked Babinsa for their care during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that this kind of assistance program will continue on an ongoing basis.
