Herman Deru Provides Support and Support for Disability Athletes
The Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, received a number of officials from the South Sumatra National Paralympic Committee (NPCI). The arrival of the NPCI board is in order to get support from the number one person in South Sumatra related to some of their activities that will be held in the near future.
Sumsel NPCI Chairperson Ryan Yohwari said that in the near future a number of NPCI Sumsel athletes will hold a National Student Paralympic Week (Peparpenas) in Palembang 2021. Then they will also participate in the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua 2021 and the Paralympiade in Tokyo 2021.
"So after receiving this audience, we like getting supplements. The governor's attention is like increasing our motivation and passion to go forward even better carrying the name of South Sumatra," Ryan said in a written statement on Sunday (7/12/2020).
They were also more excited after Herman Roar encouraged them to keep diligently practicing. Ryan explained that so far the NPCI has been trying to bring the good name of South Sumatra both in the national and international arena. As in 2018 for example the NPCI managed to pass at least 13 athletes to Asian Paragames.
"In fact there are four athletes currently undergoing preparations for Paralympic in Japan in 2021," he explained.
The four South Sumatra athletes, explained Ryan, each of two swimming and athletic athletes. While in this pre-National Championship, NPCI passed 80 athletes.
"In 2018 we will be the most productive province to win 8 gold and 5 bronze medals at Asian Paragames. In fact, South Sumatra has become a central target as a contributor to the medals at the upcoming Asian Paragames in Vietnam," he said.
In the same place, Herman Deru greatly appreciated the achievements that have been recorded. He hopes the South Sumat athletes will be able to improve the name of South Sumatra more. In addition to congratulating the competition, he also asked these athletes to uphold sportsmanship.
