Papua Attorney General Ready to Help Raja Ampat Synchronize Tourism Regulations



The West Papua Provincial Prosecutor's Office will accompany the Raja Ampat Regency government to finalize regulations on tourism which prioritizes local local wisdom.

"The Attorney General's Office is obliged to safeguard development and development outcomes so that under supervision it must be factually aware of the obstacles faced by the region including regulations that hinder the development of tourism in Raja Ampat," said West Papua Prosecutor's Office Chief Yusuf in Sorong, Thursday (30 / 7).

He said regulations that had hindered tourism development in Raja Ampat regency would be streamlined. This facilitates investors to make investments, assistance to the making of tourism regulations is done so that investors who will invest in Raja Ampat are facilitated, the status is clear, the location is clear, and their rights and obligations are clearly in accordance with legal provisions.

"Assistance is carried out so that the resulting tourism regulations become a strengthening for investors not to be an obstacle to tourism development in Raja Ampat," he said.

Raja Ampat Regent, Abdul Fariz Umlati, who gave a separate statement, expressed his appreciation to the West Papua Provincial Prosecutor's Office who visited Raja Ampat. The Papua Prosecutors Office conducted an outreach and stated they were ready to assist Raja Ampat in synchronizing tourism regulations.

He conveyed that there were still regulations that became obstacles to the development and development of tourism in Raja Ampat. Such as fisheries and marine affairs where the authority of fisheries is at the district level and marine is at the provincial level.

"With the support and assistance of the West Papua High Prosecutor's Office, it is hoped that in the future we can sit together with related parties to resolve regulatory issues that are still obstacles to tourism for the progress and prosperity of the people in the Raja Ampat maritime country that we love together," he added.

The government said, the forests in Papua are still well preserved, when other provinces have to deal with deforestation. So, the development of the tourism sector in the provinces of Papua and West Papua must pay attention to the concept of environmentally friendly.

Such was the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Deputy of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Angela Tanoesoedibjo while attending the "High Level Meeting Forum on Green Investment for Papua and West Papua" in Sorong, West Papua, last Thursday (2/27/2020).

He said, the diversity possessed by Papua and West Papua must be maintained and utilized by paying attention to its sustainability aspects. One effort that can be taken is to ensure that development is carried out with green / sustainable investments.

"As the home of half the country's biodiversity, the development of ecotourism in Papua and West Papua can have a positive impact, including improving the lives of local people, as well as giving birth to new entrepreneurs," Angela said.

He further said, the wealth and natural beauty in Papua and West Papua must be equally guarded by all stakeholders, both the central government, the private sector, indigenous groups, religious groups, youth groups to the community.

"The provinces of Papua and West Papua have great potential to become one of the world's best ecotourism destinations. "The commitment and synergy of the central, regional government, the private sector and all stakeholders are needed to make it happen," said Angela.
