Papua is Always Given Privileges of Treatment by the Center
Menkopolhukam, Mahfud MD accompanied by Tito Karnavian Minister of Home Affairs, TNI General Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Joni Supriyanto and Wakapolri, Commissioner General Gatot Eddy and Deputy Chairman of the DPD RI, Nono Sampono along with Forkompimda elements and community leaders stressed that the Papuan people were always given privileged treatment.
"Papua is always given the privilege of treatment, which in constitutional science is called affirmation. Where this policy is, we are acting unfairly so that justice will soon happen, "said Mahfud MD in a dialogue with Mimika Regency Government along with community and adat leaders at the Rimba Papua Hotel, Wednesday (7/22).
He said the Indonesian government was acting unfairly to other regions so that Papua would soon get justice.
"For example what was said by the Minister of Home Affairs if you were not a Papuan don't dream of being the Governor of Papua, but Papuans may be governors, ministers, director general on Java or in other areas, that's an affirmation, because Papuans are privileged, outsiders should not be what is here "Here, people can be anything outside," he explained.
It is explained in the constitution that there is knowledge about it wherein injustice can be done to build justice.
"Here the DPRD members are different from the others. Here, 25 percent of DPRD members must be native Papuans, even though they lost the general election, but they are included up to 25 percent, "he said.
Then Mahfud said, in the field of education there is one program in which all State Universities in Indonesia are required to provide seats for indigenous Papuans without passing the tests that apply to others.
"We are acting unfairly with other regions so that Papua is immediately the same as other regions. The funds become the biggest. So if we look at it from that point of view, I think the government has always given Papua privileges to move forward, "he said.
